We were in a warehouse surrounded by orange trees, so while the outside of the building looked broken and lost everything around us smelled of sweet orange blossoms. The warehouse had been converted into a film studio, filled with everything you could want. Frank was doing Croix’s makeup in the front room of the sound stage, Croix went over the scene in her head. She was playing a burn victim. Frank had renovated the warehouse himself, nestled in the middle of a defunct Florida citrus field. I heard a year or so later that Frank gave up the film life and sold the building and the citrus trees.
